All these Washington DC photos on this page were taken during my semester abroad back in 2008. I attended American University in the Northwest of the city and had four months to check out all the sights of DC. From Tenleytown I took the red line train day by day to the city. This led to many photography trips to all the awesome sights to take my Washington DC photos!
My most favorite spot to take photos was the National Mall. It is a great starting point to tour the White House (use the Farragut Metro Station), Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial and Vietnam Memorial. Adjacent to the Mall are also Smithsonian’s famous museums which are free of charge – like the Air and Space Museum (my favorite) and the Museum of American History. Especially in the summer it’s also nice to take a good book, lay down near the reflecting pool and enjoy the sun. If you proceed further south you can easily access the Korean War Memorial, as well as Jefferson Memorial. All these spots are perfect to take some of the most famous Washington DC photos. Other photo stops you should not miss are the capitol with it’s great new visitor center, and Arlington Cemetary in Virginia (short metro ride from DC). You should also head to Georgetown and the riverfront for a nice stroll or shopping in the afternoon sun, and visit trendy areas like Adam’s Morgan or Dupont Circle.
