These South Korea Photos were taken during my round-the-world trip in 2013. I flew in from Taiwan before continuing to Tokyo. As I am a gamer since years I had to check out why Koreans are so f***ing good at gaming and win Starcaft or League of Legends tournaments regularly. Also, the country is a paradise for foodies and cultural sites as well!
Once I got into Incheon Airport (which is a 45 minute train ride to Seoul) I settled down in the area around Seodaemun. I started out visiting multiple temples and Gyeongbok Palace just north of the city center. From there I walked cross Seoul to see Cheonggyecheon and Dongdaemun Market nearby. There I could get a glimpse of the food culture with lots of fresh seafood and vegetables. A little tip: if you’re hungry, check out the street food stands that can be found everywhere! Try the “tornado potato”, a twisted potato cut and deep-fried. Also good during autumn: Korean chestnuts!
I continued on towards Namsan Park where you should take the cablecar up the mountain. There you will find some awesome panorama views of Seoul – a great way to take impressive South Korea Photos! Continue towards Seoul Tower and check out the love locks at the bottom. Continue downwards again and head to Myeong-Dong or Itaewon for some shopping – especially in Myeong-Dong you will find lots of awesome stores. At night you need to take the train to Gangnam, a posh city quarter that rose to fame when Psy sang about it. Check out the “Gangnam Style” sign at the subway stop and take a famous South Korea photos there. And a last tip: if you’re into gaming as well, check out Yongsan eSports stadium at the 6th floor of the shopping mall and watch Koreans play and cheer for computer games!
