These Colombo Photos were taken during a short trip to Asia I did in May 2014. I got a great flight with Emirates to Singapur that included stopovers in Dubai, the Maldives and Sri Lanka. I stayed in Colombo for two days and explored this beautiful city. Although Sri Lanka is more known for its beaches, Colombo is also worth a visit! You should definitely head to Beira Lake and take some Colombo Photos there, as its colors are just beautiful. Nearby you will find Seeme Malaka, a marvelous religious shrine on the lake. Just around the corner is Gangaramaya Temple, where you will find a multitude of great, picturesque sights. The best way to explore the city is to take a Tuktuk and drive around the busy streets of Colombo. If you are looking for a place to stay in Colombo, I highly recommend the Galle Face Hotel! It is an old colonial place with lots of history to it. People like Che Guevara, Mark Twain or Juri Gagarin have stayed there throughout its history, and you can really feel this history when walking through the rooms!
Where to take the best Colombo Photos?
Gangaramaya Temple is a perfect place to take Colombo Photos: all the statues there offer many photogenic opportunities. Also, take a look at the wall reliefs outside of the temple. If you head to Beira Lake nearby, take a stroll around the lake and catch all the beautiful colors. Head to the big Galle Face area at the coastline to see how people in Sri Lanka enjoy their free time. Wolvendaal church and all the old colonial graves are also an impressive sight you should check out, as well as all the markets you can discover!
